Mason Greenwood and Harriet Robson attend UNFP Trophy ceremony in Paris
Mason Greenwood and Harriet Robson made a rare public appearance together on Monday night as they attended the UNFP Trophy ceremony in Paris, where the former Manchester United forward was among the contenders for Ligue 1’s Player of the Year award, reports BritPanorama.
The 24-year-old arrived at the prestigious event alongside Robson, his partner and the mother of their two children, following an impressive second season with Marseille. Greenwood’s strong form has seen him score 16 league goals, placing him among the top performers in the division.
Despite his impressive tally, the award ultimately went to Ousmane Dembele, the PSG star who retained the prize this year even though he has featured sparingly in Ligue 1. Dembele, who won the Ballon d’Or last year, has started only nine league matches, scoring ten goals and providing six assists, with many of his standout performances occurring in the Champions League.
The decision to award Dembele was met with mixed reactions, with some questioning how a player with fewer than 1,000 league minutes this season could be considered the division’s best. In his acceptance speech, Dembele acknowledged the discourse surrounding his limited appearances, saying, “I’ve had quite a few physical setbacks. I haven’t had a lot of playing time, but every time I’ve been on the pitch, I’ve tried to be there for the team.”
He further remarked, “I don’t know if my time counts double, but I’m happy that the players voted for me.” Alongside Dembele in the nominations was Vitinha, who has played a crucial role in PSG’s push for another league title and a return to the Champions League final.
As Paris Saint-Germain nears another Ligue 1 title—needing just a point to confirm their success—this ceremony underscores the competitive dynamics within French football, where established narratives continually face scrutiny amid shifting performances. In a league where talent is keenly contested, recognition often brings its own complexities, highlighting how even remarkable achievements can stir debate among fans and pundits alike.
