Jack Grealish reveals passion for vegetable gardening
Jack Grealish has disclosed his unexpected passion for growing vegetables at his £5.6 million Cheshire estate, where he resides with influencer girlfriend Sasha Attwood, reports BritPanorama.
The England midfielder, currently on loan at Everton from Manchester City, shared these horticultural interests through a planning application to the local council.
The 30-year-old footballer and Attwood manage allotment plots on their expansive nine-acre property in Chelford. Grealish is seeking a Certificate of Lawful Existing Use or Development, which would officially confirm that the current usage of his gardens does not require planning consent.
In his application, Grealish noted that he and his family enjoy various pastimes on the estate, which includes individual golf practice, tennis, and boating. The couple, who have a 14-month-old daughter, Mila Rose, also use the lawns for entertaining friends and recreation. “The garden spaces are used for exercising our dog and we grow vegetables in the allotment areas,” he added.
Cheshire East Council is expected to make a decision on his application in due course. Beyond the vegetable patches, the estate boasts a Japanese water garden, a secret garden, and a lake suitable for fishing and boating.
Sports facilities on the property include a tennis court and putting green. The application has garnered support from notable figures, including the former senior gardener of the estate and the previous owner, both endorsing Grealish’s bid for official recognition of the land’s current recreational use.
Earlier this season, Grealish received his first Premier League Player of the Month award for his performances in August, where he provided four assists. Everton manager David Moyes expressed his hope that Grealish’s strong form will help him secure a place back in the England national team, particularly with the World Cup year approaching. Grealish was left out of England’s final squad for UEFA Euro 2024, which he described as one of the hardest moments in his career.
With the new England manager Thomas Tuchel yet to select Grealish for any call-ups, despite his promising start with Everton, his continued strong performances could reignite his international prospects. As the garden thrives, Grealish’s football journey may equally see a resurgence, illustrating how personal passions and professional ambitions can intertwine in unexpected ways.
