Bryson DeChambeau reportedly has journalist removed from practice range at LIV Golf event

Bryson DeChambeau has reporter kicked out of practice range ahead of LIV Golf Indianapolis

Bryson DeChambeau is believed to have had a reporter removed from the practice range prior to LIV Golf Indianapolis. The American golfer, 32, has been preparing for the event at The Club at Chatham Hills while being filmed by the journalist, reports BritPanorama.

The reporter, known as “acaseofthegolf1” on social media, recounted that he was “booted off the range by Bryson.” Another journalist noted that the reporter was “doing nothing out of [the] norm.”

Following the incident, DeChambeau reportedly called the journalist for approximately 20 minutes. The journalist expressed gratitude for the call, stating, “I really appreciate him calling. A lot of players wouldn’t have done that.”

This incident comes as DeChambeau prepares to return to the DP World Tour, sparking uncertainty about his future amid ongoing challenges for LIV Golf. The two-time US Open champion has not participated in the European circuit since 2022 but is set to compete at the Nedbank Golf Challenge in South Africa this December.

The announcement about DeChambeau’s participation comes at a particularly tumultuous time for LIV Golf, which faces pressing questions regarding its longevity. The Saudi Public Investment Fund is expected to withdraw its backing at the end of the current campaign, potentially leaving the league in a precarious position.

LIV’s CEO, Scott O’Neil, indicated that the league has secured a new investment package but provided few details. He asserted that this move would usher in a “new era” for LIV while also noting the interest from various parties in potential investments.

O’Neil mentioned, “LIV Golf has an agreement in place with a lead investor, signed by the investor and approved by the Board, to anchor the transaction and play a key role in supporting the path forward for the League’s next era.” He hinted at a major shift in equity ownership, with players becoming majority shareholders, marking a first for a global sports league.

As LIV Golf navigates these challenges, the potential cancellation of its Team Championship event looms large. Speculation surrounding the event’s fate intensified last week when preparations appeared halted and Fox TV removed it from its listings.

This week’s tournament in Indiana is anticipated to be the last of a season riddled with uncertainty, reflecting the ongoing struggle for many in the golfing world as they adapt to the shifting landscape shaped by both LIV Golf’s ambitions and the broader financial climate.
