Volodymyr Zelensky has mocked Vladimir Putin for Russia’s reliance on ally North Korea, stating that the country can no longer wage its war on Ukraine independently, reports BritPanorama.
In his nightly video address, Zelensky indicated that Russia was preparing to deploy an additional North Korean contingent on its territory and had received more ballistic missiles from North Korea. He highlighted the unprecedented nature of this military cooperation, saying, “For the first time in its history, Russia cannot wage war without reinforcements from North Korea.”
The Ukrainian president warned that North Korea’s military experience would pose a “greater danger” not just to Ukraine but also to regional powers like Japan, South Korea, and the Philippines, as it actively improves its military capabilities through collaboration with Russia.
Meanwhile, on Monday, a Ukrainian drone strike targeted locations deep within Russia, approximately 600 miles from the Ukrainian border. Strikes occurred in the city of Nizhnekamsk, impacting both industrial sectors and civil infrastructure, including the Taneco oil refinery.
The drone attack resulted in the deaths of at least 13 people, with the victims including seven Uzbek citizens and a child. In response, a period of mourning was announced in the Nizhnekamsk region, as confirmed by the local mayor.
As the conflict persists, the Ukrainian government remains focused on its defensive strategies, while Russia continues to adapt its military approach amid external challenges. The involvement of North Korea is expected to have significant implications for both the tactical landscape and geopolitical dynamics in the region.
With military operations escalating and the humanitarian impact widening, the situation remains precarious for all involved parties.
