Modelling scout linked to Jeffrey Epstein found dead in France
Daniel Siad, a modelling scout with ties to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, has been found dead at his home outside Paris, prosecutors said on Wednesday, reports BritPanorama.
Siad’s body was discovered on Monday evening. An autopsy will be carried out to determine the cause of death, the Nanterre prosecutor’s office stated. Notably, Siad’s name appeared nearly 2,000 times in the Epstein files released by the U.S. Department of Justice.
According to French media, at least five women accused Siad, 69, of rape and human trafficking, allegations which Siad consistently denied.
Siad’s lawyer conveyed in an emailed statement to Reuters that the modelling scout was never formally the subject of judicial proceedings. In France, suspects undergo formal investigation only after a preliminary probe, indicating that investigative magistrates believe there are reasonable grounds to suspect a crime has been committed.
In May, Siad told French broadcaster BFM that his relationship with Epstein was strictly professional. “Daniel Siad never stopped proclaiming his innocence,” his lawyer, Meyna Arab-Tigrine, remarked, adding that he had died of a heart attack.
Siad is the second individual publicly associated with Epstein to have died in France. modelling agent Jean-Luc Brunel was arrested in 2020 on allegations of procuring women for Epstein and was later found hanged in his prison cell in 2022 after spending 14 months in custody awaiting trial on charges of rape of minors and sexual harassment. Brunel, like Siad, denied the charges and any involvement in Epstein’s sex trafficking network. Epstein himself died in prison in 2019 while awaiting trial for sex trafficking.
The developments regarding these figures continue to cast a long shadow over the allegations surrounding Epstein’s network and its implications.
