Jude Bellingham shines in England’s 7-0 victory over Croatia
Jude Bellingham produced an outstanding performance as England thrashed Croatia 7-0 in Rijeka, a result that marked Croatia’s heaviest defeat on home soil, reports BritPanorama.
The Real Madrid midfielder scored once and assisted three goals, underpinning a dominant display from Thomas Tuchel’s side. Bukayo Saka scored twice, while Harry Kane and Anthony Gordon also found the net, overwhelming the hosts during the match.
Bellingham, who is 23 years old, solidified his position as a key player for England, boasting 13 goal involvements in his last 11 appearances for the national team.
Roy Keane praised Bellingham for his impact on the game, emphasizing that his influence extends beyond technical skill. “There’s still a lot more to come from Bellingham. Bellingham can go on to become one of the greatest players of all time,” Keane remarked on ITV, highlighting Bellingham’s dedication both on and off the ball.
Keane noted how Bellingham’s exemplary work rate serves as inspiration for his teammates. “If you have a player who is that good in your team, who is amazing in possession, and is playing for Real Madrid and doing brilliant things, but his work rate off the ball, that will inspire all the other players,” he added.
England’s victory impressed Keane, who suggested that the Croatian side, ranked 14th in the world, appeared to be of much lower calibre on the day. He described the game as “everything you would want. A complete performance.”
Saka echoed these sentiments, describing the night as “amazing” and praised the team’s high energy and spirit. “We played with high energy and spirit and punished them tonight,” the Arsenal forward stated.
Tuchel acknowledged Bellingham’s elevated level of performance but cautioned that there can be no complacency in future matches. He asserted, “The level that you showed last week is never enough in the next week, that’s just the nature of football.”
Kane remarked on the attacking quartet, stating their fluidity and ability to interchange positions posed significant problems for the opposition. “It’s so hard for the opposition to pick it up. The bottom line is if you lose the ball, we’re all smart enough and good enough to cover in midfield or defence,” he noted.
England’s squad will have little time to dwell on their resounding victory as they prepare to face Czechia at Wembley on Tuesday night.
