Harry Kane loses voice celebrating England's World Cup victory over Mexico

Harry Kane left speechless after England’s World Cup victory over Mexico

Harry Kane admitted he could barely speak after England’s dramatic World Cup victory over Mexico left the captain with no voice following emotional post-match celebrations, reports BritPanorama.

The Three Lions skipper was hoarse during his television interview after joining supporters in belting out “Wonderwall” and “Three Lions” in jubilant scenes inside the Azteca Stadium. England had just secured a famous 3-2 victory to book their place in the World Cup quarter-finals, producing a stirring display despite playing more than 40 minutes with 10 men following Jarell Quansah’s red card.

Kane, who scored the decisive penalty to continue his prolific tournament, struggled to get his words out as he reflected on one of the biggest wins of his international career. “My voice has gone,” he laughed. “It was a crazy game, we had to fight. We had to find something. I’ve just been singing there, I can’t really talk. Everything was against us, we found a way.”

Wonderwall has become England’s unofficial anthem throughout the tournament, with the squad once again serenading the travelling supporters after the final whistle, as celebrations continued long into the evening. However, there was concern amid the joy after Jordan Henderson suffered an injury during the celebrations. The Brentford midfielder attempted to jump over the advertising boards before landing awkwardly on his arm. He required lengthy treatment, received oxygen, and was taken from the pitch on a stretcher before being transported to hospital.

England’s triumph had been built on immense resilience from start to finish. Jude Bellingham fired the Three Lions into a commanding two-goal lead with a superb brace before Julian Quinones reduced the deficit shortly before half-time. England’s task became even tougher after Quansah was sent off, but Anthony Gordon won a crucial penalty that Kane confidently dispatched into the corner for what proved to be the winning goal.

Kane later conceded a penalty while helping his side defend deep, allowing Raul Jimenez to score from the spot, but England refused to buckle during a tense finale. The victory sends Thomas Tuchel’s side into a mouth-watering quarter-final against Norway on Saturday, with hopes high after Erling Haaland scored twice to secure Norway’s place in the last eight.

As Kane struggles to regain his voice, the echoes of celebration at the Azteca serve as a reminder of what these moments truly mean to players and fans alike in the high-stakes world of football.
