UAE approves first drug for vitiligo treatment
The UAE has approved the use of a new drug to treat vitiligo, known as Rinvok, for individuals aged over 12 with non-segmental vitiligo, reports BritPanorama.
The Emirates Drug Authority announced on Monday that the UAE is the first country in the world to adopt this drug. Vitiligo is a skin condition that results in the loss of pigmentation, leading to discolored patches on various parts of the body. It affects between 0.5 and 1 percent of the global population, and currently, there is no cure for this disorder.
“The UAE is the first country in the world to adopt the expanded use of Rinvok, reflecting its advanced position in keeping pace with the latest pharmaceutical innovations and accelerating their availability,” stated the Emirates Drug Authority.
