Ukraine has attacked a warehouse belonging to Russian online retailer Wildberries in a massive overnight air strike involving more than 800 drones, reports BritPanorama. The Russian Defence Ministry stated that it had successfully destroyed 822 drones throughout the night, with 600 directed at the capital. However, the Kremlin has not confirmed the total number of drones launched by Ukraine in its daily updates.
The Wildberries site in Podolsk, located in the Moscow region, is reportedly the largest facility operated by the retailer. Visuals show the extensive warehouse reduced to rubble, as Ukrainian forces continue their operations targeting what has been described as the ‘Russian Amazon,’ aiming to extend the impact of the war on Russian civilians.
Moscow region Governor Andrei Vorobyov confirmed that an 83-year-old man lost his life due to the drone strike, while several others sustained injuries in Podolsk. In Kyiv, early morning missile and drone strikes resulted in at least three injuries, as reported by the city’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko.
The attack follows previous Ukrainian operations that included targeting a Russian rocket and space facility in Samara, which is believed to be integral to supporting Russia’s satellite internet capabilities. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the successful strike, utilizing Flamingo missiles.
Overall, the night of intense conflict reflects Ukraine’s ongoing strategy to disrupt Russian logistics and infrastructure amid a continuous exchange of hostilities between the two nations. The situation remains fluid as both sides assess the consequences of these recent developments.
