West Ham unveil new home kit as transfer speculation swirls around Jarrod Bowen
West Ham have just dropped their fresh 2026/27 home kit, and it’s got fans buzzing for reasons beyond the new New Balance design, reports BritPanorama.
Captain Jarrod Bowen takes centre stage in the promotional material, sporting the claret shirt with its distinctive ‘Bonds Blue’ sleeves. For supporters dreading life without their talisman following relegation to the Championship, seeing him front and centre feels like a massive hint.
One excited fan posted on social media, “BOWEN, MAGASSA, SOUCEK, KYLE WALKER PETERS, POTTS, BASICALLY ALL CONFIRMED STAYING.” However, others weren’t quite as convinced, noting the England international’s rather expressionless look in the footage. The timing couldn’t be better for West Ham’s hopes of keeping their skipper.
Aston Villa had emerged as frontrunners in the race for Bowen, but their pursuit has hit a serious snag. UEFA have slapped Unai Emery’s side with a hefty £19.4m fine, making the Hammers’ £50m asking price look increasingly out of reach. According to reports, Villa are now expected to step back from negotiations entirely.
The Midlands club apparently need to prioritise bringing in a new number 10 instead, which means Bowen has dropped down their shopping list. Manchester United and Everton had also shown interest, but neither has made a concrete move. Here’s where things get really interesting for the Hammers’ finances.
Tottenham have agreed to pay a whopping £85m for Mateus Fernandes, giving West Ham a massive cash injection that takes the pressure right off. Crysencio Summerville is also attracting serious attention, with Manchester United reportedly keen and a £50m price tag attached. Should both deals go through, the club would pocket a combined £135m – more than enough to offset the estimated £100m hit from dropping out of the Premier League. That kind of money in the bank means selling their captain becomes far less of a necessity.
Beyond the financial picture, there are plenty of personal reasons keeping Bowen tied to east London. The 29-year-old is married to former Love Island star Dani Dyer, whose father Danny is famously devoted to the Hammers. Heat World reported that Bowen faces ‘pressure’ from his extended family to remain at the club, while Dani’s Strictly Come Dancing commitments mean relocating isn’t really an option. Then there’s his track record in the second tier – 52 goals and 12 assists across 117 Championship matches during his Hull City days.
If anyone can fire West Ham straight back up, it’s their captain.
