Paul Pogba set to have Monaco contract mutually terminated amid injury woes

Paul Pogba’s contract with AS Monaco set to be terminated

Paul Pogba is expected to have his contract “terminated” after enduring another injury setback, reports BritPanorama.

The 33-year-old midfielder, currently with AS Monaco, has struggled to maintain his career after a recent doping ban. Throughout the pre-season, the club assessed his potential to continue representing them but faced challenges due to his injuries.

Pogba’s presence on the field has been limited; he managed only 45 minutes in one match last season before being sidelined with a knee injury that has kept him out of four consecutive games. Reports from L’Equipe and Nicematin indicate he experienced severe pain during a training session.

Monaco intends to “mutually terminate” Pogba’s contract by early September, allowing him to seek opportunities elsewhere. The decision rests now with Pogba, who has been informed of the club’s intentions. He is on a significantly reduced weekly salary of under £44,000, compared to the £290,000 he earned at Manchester United.

Pogba’s return to football came in March 2025, following a reduced doping ban after an appeal. However, he has managed only six appearances in the past season due to ongoing injury problems, raising questions about whether he will retire or pursue a new club. Recently, MLS teams in the United States were reportedly presented with the opportunity to sign him.

Despite his turbulent career marked by injuries, Pogba has amassed considerable achievements over 15 years, including four Serie A titles and two Coppa Italia victories with Juventus, along with a Europa League win during his time at Manchester United. His crowning moment arrived with the French national team, lifting the World Cup in 2018.

The narrative of Pogba’s career illustrates both remarkable highs and frustrating lows, serving as a potent reminder of how swiftly fortune can shift in the world of football. As he stands at this crossroads, the next chapter could see him either rebuild or redefine his legacy in the sport.
