Micky van de Ven scores stunning solo goal as Tottenham secures 4-0 Champions League win

Tottenham triumphs over Copenhagen in dominant Champions League performance

Tottenham delivered a commanding 4-0 triumph against Copenhagen at their north London stadium on Tuesday evening, preserving their flawless Champions League campaign with eight points from four matches, reports BritPanorama.

The comprehensive victory provided the perfect response following Saturday’s disappointing home defeat to Chelsea, which had prompted criticism from supporters. Despite being reduced to ten players when Brennan Johnson received a straight red card, Tottenham’s intensity increased dramatically.

Dutch defender Micky van de Ven claimed the headlines with an extraordinary individual effort, opening the scoring in the 19th minute by converting after goalkeeper Dominik Kotarski’s reckless charge from his penalty area. Johnson had initially delivered a precise through ball to set up the unguarded net.

After a missed opportunity by Randal Kolo Muani, Tottenham doubled their advantage six minutes into the second half. Kotarski mishandled a clearance that fell to Kolo Muani, who set up Wilson Odobert for a straightforward finish.

Johnson’s night ended prematurely in the 55th minute when referee Erik Lambrechts upgraded a yellow card for a sliding tackle on Marcos Lopez to a straight dismissal after VAR intervention. However, Tottenham did not wilt; rather, Van de Ven produced a moment of brilliance in the 64th minute, collecting the ball deep in his own penalty area before embarking on a remarkable solo run past four Copenhagen defenders, finishing low past Kotarski.

Palhinha extended the advantage three minutes later, converting from close range following Cristian Romero’s assist during another swift counter-attack. Tottenham currently occupies seventh position in the Champions League standings, firmly within the automatic qualification places for the round of 16.

While Richarlison struck the crossbar twice in stoppage time, the manager’s decision to retain Van de Ven in the starting eleven was clearly vindicated, particularly against the backdrop of recent team controversy regarding player conduct post-Chelsea fixture.

Their next European fixture takes them to Paris on 26 November to face the defending champions Paris Saint-Germain. As the Champions League progresses, Tottenham’s evolution under pressure will be tested anew against tougher opponents.
