Justin Rose joins McLaren Golf as first global ambassador
Justin Rose has officially joined McLaren Golf, becoming the Formula One giant’s first global ambassador and taking an equity stake in the fledgling equipment venture, reports BritPanorama.
The 45-year-old Englishman, currently ranked fifth in the world, will put McLaren clubs into play for the first time at this week’s Cadillac Championship at Trump National Doral in Miami.
This move marks the end of Rose’s lengthy spell as an equipment free agent. The timing coincides perfectly with McLaren Golf’s official launch on Wednesday, aligning with the Miami Grand Prix and bringing together the brand’s motorsport heritage and its new golf endeavour.
This partnership goes beyond a typical endorsement deal. Rose has been deeply embedded in McLaren Golf’s journey from the outset, spending nearly two years collaborating with the brand’s engineering team.
He has tested countless prototypes, provided detailed performance feedback, and acted as an athlete advisor to the board. Rose describes the collaboration as a “passion project,” stating, “From the beginning, this has been a passion project. I’ve had the opportunity to be involved from the outset — working with the team, testing the clubs and helping shape what they’ve become.”
Arriving in Miami in excellent form, Rose’s recent achievements include victory at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines — his 13th PGA Tour title — followed by a top-three finish at The Masters. He currently leads the PGA Tour in Greens in Regulation and ranks among the top ten in Strokes Gained: Approach.
Rose’s form makes him an ideal representative to showcase McLaren’s new equipment at golf’s premier event. His longstanding friendship with McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown and regular games with reigning Formula 1 world champion Lando Norris have further solidified this partnership.
Regarding his deep involvement with McLaren, Rose added, “That level of involvement, combined with the standards McLaren brings to everything they do, made this an easy decision for me. I’m excited to put the clubs in play and watch the brand flourish.” This week, on the course, Rose will carry McLaren’s distinctive papaya-coloured staff bag and display the brand’s logo on his chest.
In a sport where personal connections often intertwine with commercial deals, Rose’s new role with McLaren Golf serves as a vivid reminder of how ambition can bridge the worlds of golf and motorsport.
