Jeremie Aliadiere praises Christos Tzolis’s potential impact at Arsenal
Former Arsenal forward Jeremie Aliadiere has highlighted new signing Christos Tzolis, stating he will have a “massive part to play” this season, reports BritPanorama.
Following his transfer from Club Brugge, the Greek winger has acclimated to life in north London swiftly, notching four assists in his first eight appearances.
On his debut, Tzolis played a pivotal role, contributing two assists in the Community Shield victory over Manchester City. Aliadiere, speaking exclusively about Tzolis, emphasised his importance to manager Mikel Arteta’s squad while acknowledging the mixed performances so far.
“I think he’s going to have a massive part to play. Would he start every game? No,” Aliadiere noted, referencing Tzolis’s substitution against Aston Villa after a less impressive outing but praising his strong performance against Coventry.
Aliadiere believes the transition from the Belgian Pro League to the Premier League will present challenges for Tzolis. “He had a fantastic season with Brugge, and his goals and assists were absolutely crazy last year,” he said, adding that the competition at Arsenal may create hurdles but that he expects Tzolis will still make a noticeable impact.
Tzolis was part of an Arsenal squad that faced their first defeat of the season on the weekend, losing 3-0 to Brighton. After winning seven consecutive matches, the Gunners aimed to match a club record of eight straight victories to start a campaign but were unable to deliver against a determined Brighton side.
This loss saw Brighton leap to third in the Premier League, now just two points behind Arsenal, who remain in second place after Manchester City overcame Sunderland 5-3 in a thrilling encounter.
