Leeds manager Daniel Farke misses press conference ahead of Tottenham clash
Leeds United’s manager Daniel Farke was unable to attend his pre-match press conference due to illness, leaving assistant Eddie Riemer to address the media before their important game against Tottenham Hotspur, reports BritPanorama.
Farke was scheduled to speak at 2:50 pm to preview Monday’s trip to London, but the club announced his absence just hours before the event. In their statement, Leeds expressed, “Unfortunately due to illness, Daniel’s assistant Eddie Riemer will be taking today’s press conference.”
Riemer went on to convey Farke’s apologies, stating, “Daniel apologises and looks forward to seeing those of you at the game on Monday.” With Leeds positioned 14th in the Premier League table, they currently hold a seven-point lead over West Ham, who sit in the final relegation spot.
Needing only a draw against Tottenham would mathematically secure their place in the Premier League, unless safety is ensured before kick-off. While Leeds await Monday’s match, they could find their situation improve depending on results from other fixtures, particularly the West Ham vs Arsenal game.
Victory for Arsenal could effectively render Leeds safe irrespective of their own result, while a surprise win for West Ham may shift pressure onto Tottenham, pushing them deeper into the relegation battle as they chase survival.
Leeds heads into the fixture with confidence, having lost only four league matches since December, a run that includes a 3-1 victory over Burnley last weekend. Their strong form has reflected a tactical shift, notably since adapting to a back three, which has revitalised their campaign and secured their standing in the league. Their next matches include Brighton on May 17 and a concluding fixture against West Ham on the last day of the season.
As the tension builds ahead of the Tottenham match, Leeds remain in a surprisingly comfortable position, highlighting how football often works in mysterious ways, with teams rising and falling with the fickleness of form and fate.
