North Korea to send up to 50,000 troops to Russia, says Zelensky

Volodymyr Zelensky says that North Korea is preparing to send 30-50,000 troops to be deployed in allied Russian territory, reports BritPanorama.

Speaking to Ukraine’s United News, he states that Pyongyang is “studying” the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, aiming to “gain experience in modern warfare under Russia.”

He remarked: “We have already found North Korean missiles on the territory of Ukraine. Today, this is already an established fact.”

Earlier this week, US intelligence indicated that Russian president Vladimir Putin might order an attack on a NATO member country within weeks to test the alliance’s resolve. US officials shared with the Wall Street Journal that this could involve a small land incursion or cyberattacks across Eastern Europe between now and 2029.

The potential for a cross-border incursion appears to increase over time, as current reports suggest that the US has depleted key missile stockpiles while engaged in conflicts in regions such as Iran.

In another development, Russian forces continued strikes on Ukrainian port infrastructure in Odesa and Mykolaiv, claiming they targeted military warehouses and support vessels. Ukrainian officials denounced the ongoing aggression, reinforcing their commitment to defend the nation’s sovereignty.

The growing military ties between North Korea and Russia underscore a significant geopolitical shift and potential consequences that may extend beyond the immediate conflict. These developments merit careful observation as the balance of power in the region remains precarious.
