Rory Stewart has revealed his family’s reaction to his viral moment on BBC Newsnight, reports BritPanorama. The former Conservative minister gained attention when he was seen spinning in his chair and staring at fellow panelist Ailbhe Rea, political editor for the New Statesman, during the show aired on 18 September.
Presenter Matt Chorley remarked that he believed Stewart was “probably just intently listening to what Ailbhe had to say,” suggesting that actions that seem normal in person can appear unusual when viewed on screen.
In response to the unexpected attention, Stewart shared that his family advised him to disable all of his social media on his phone.
