Iran's president calls for end to US conflict, claiming nation is in 'position of power'

Iran’s president Masoud Pezeshkian has stated that it is now time to end the war between Tehran and the US. “It is better that we bring the war to an end now as we are in a position of power and dignity,” Pezeshkian said during a recent meeting with medical professionals in the country, reports BritPanorama.

He further emphasized that “the whole world acknowledges our victory” while condemning the US for attacks on Iranian infrastructure, claiming these actions violate international norms and have turned America into a pariah globally.

This declaration follows escalating tensions marked by the US president Donald Trump’s warning of “economic terrorism” aimed at Iran. The US Treasury has indicated it will impose the “toughest sanctions in history” against Tehran. Trump has vowed to engage in “Economic Warfare and Isolation on an unprecedented scale,” suggesting potential ramifications for nations aiding Iran.

Meanwhile, the toll of the ongoing conflict has been notable, with reported injuries among US military personnel exceeding 750 since the onset of hostilities. On Wednesday, the Pentagon updated casualty figures, confirming 757 injured and 18 killed as a direct consequence of the conflict.

As the situation develops, Iran is also facing a downturn in oil exports, particularly to China, driven by the US blockade. The number of available offers for Iranian oil shipments is declining as the threat of sanctions looms larger, contributing to rising prices. This economic pressure has sparked fierce rhetoric from Iranian officials, condemning US actions as a form of “economic terrorism.”

The cyclical nature of claims and counterclaims continues to deepen the complexities of this geopolitical landscape, indicating that both sides are entangled in a drawn-out confrontation absent a clear resolution. Amidst this backdrop, Pezeshkian’s call for cessation may represent a tactical shift or simply a reflection of prevailing circumstances. Diplomacy remains elusive, the file of the conflict still open, and the international community watches closely as developments unfold.
