Ed Miliband holds talks with Marco Rubio in Washington

Ed Miliband held discussions in Washington with US counterpart Marco Rubio, notably sidestepping questions regarding his past remarks describing Donald Trump as “racist,” reports BritPanorama.

In 2016, the current foreign secretary referred to the US president as “a racist, misogynistic, self-confessed groper.”

During their meeting, Mr Miliband smiled while shaking hands with the US diplomat, expressing eagerness for the talks ahead.

Mr Rubio extended an invitation to Mr Miliband following an initial encounter at a foreign ministers’ summit in the Philippines last month.

After their discussions, Mr Miliband expressed gratitude towards Mr Rubio for a “warm, productive” meeting, highlighting the strong ties between the UK and US as the “closest of allies.”

The meeting illustrates ongoing diplomatic engagement between the two nations, further solidifying their partnership in a complex global landscape.
