Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces commander Robert Brovdi has declared that his units will fully control the R-280 transport corridor, known as the ‘Novorossiya’ route, within a month, and eventually isolate the Crimean peninsula. In an interview with Reuters, Brovdi said attacking military lorries on open roads has become as straightforward as hunting partridges in a field. He argued that the goal is to make it extremely difficult for Russian service personnel and defence industry workers to remain in Crimea or use access routes to the occupied territory. The commander stressed that Ukraine does not target civilians, limiting strikes to military sites, energy infrastructure and weapons factories, seeking to inflict losses painful enough to erode Moscow’s will to continue the war. Such an evolving drone campaign, if successful, could reshape the Black Sea security dynamic and have knock‑on effects for global energy markets and UK defence planning, as Britain remains a key supplier of military aid and intelligence to Kyiv.
