Saka likely to remain on the bench for England’s World Cup clash with Ghana

Bukayo Saka unlikely to start against Ghana

Bukayo Saka is unlikely to start in England’s second World Cup game against Ghana, reports BritPanorama.

The Arsenal winger came off the bench in the opening match against Croatia, providing an assist to Marcus Rashford, who contributed to a 4-2 victory as the Three Lions began their campaign successfully.

Prior to the tournament, manager Thomas Tuchel indicated that Saka would be carefully managed due to what is believed to be Achilles tendinitis. Despite this concern, Saka expressed his readiness to “gamble” on his fitness to aid England during the World Cup.

Despite Saka’s personal commitment, Tuchel suggested that the 24-year-old might have to wait until England’s final group game to earn a starting position. “Bukayo is ready and will get more and more ready. I think once we go to the last game of this group, he will be ready,” Tuchel stated.

In their opening World Cup match, England exhibited dominance, particularly in the second half, where they outperformed a Croatian team that posed challenges with two equalising goals from Martin Baturina and Petar Musa. Harry Kane, who scored twice, stated that the performance was at the “highest level,” emphasising the potential for even greater results in the coming matches.

England’s overall gameplay reflected a mix of resilience and skill, allowing them to collect three vital points in Group L against opponents many predicted would present significant early difficulties. As the tournament progresses, the focus remains not only on individual performances but also on the collective goals of the team.

Amidst the bustle of the World Cup, moments of connection between players and fans serve as poignant reminders of the beautiful game’s unifying power. Such experiences mark not just a journey in sport but also a heartfelt engagement with a community that thrives on shared ambition, underscoring how sport can lift spirits, spark joy, and inspire across borders.
