Spurs secure victory over Chelsea after turbulent period
Tottenham Hotspur claimed a 2-0 victory against Chelsea, marking a significant turnaround after a challenging period for the club, reports BritPanorama.
The match began with an own goal from Chelsea’s Mike Penders, which opened the scoring for Spurs. Shortly thereafter, a stunning strike by Tel sealed the win, giving Tottenham only their second victory at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League, a notable achievement considering their recent struggles.
However, questions remain for Chelsea’s manager, Alonso. His inability to address defensive frailties has seen the team concede goals at an alarming rate, matching the total of Coventry City, who currently occupy the 19th position.
In a puzzling tactical decision, Alonso opted to start the untested Rogers in place of experienced striker Danny Welbeck, who remained sidelined until the 88th minute. Moreover, the absence of winger Estevao, who could have posed significant challenges to the Spurs defense, further complicated Chelsea’s attacking options.
Despite some progress under Alonso, the team continues to encounter persistent issues. A moment of frustration from Palmer resulted in a red card, a troubling trend that has recently affected Chelsea’s performance. As the season continues, it is clear that Alonso has much to address.
