Mohamed Salah out for the season with hamstring injury, Liverpool career likely ended

Mohamed Salah ruled out for the season following injury

Mohamed Salah’s nine-year spell at Liverpool has come to an abrupt end after the Egyptian forward sustained a hamstring tear during Saturday’s victory against Crystal Palace at Anfield, reports BritPanorama.

The 33-year-old was forced to leave the pitch during the match, raising concerns that the injury would conclude his season prematurely. Egypt’s national team director has now confirmed the diagnosis, revealing that Salah will require a month of rehabilitation.

This setback implies that the departing star, who is set to leave the club this summer, will miss all of Liverpool’s remaining fixtures throughout May. Ibrahim Hassan, Egypt’s national team director, provided clarity on the situation in comments, stating, “He has suffered a hamstring tear and will require four weeks of treatment.”

The recovery timeline does offer a silver lining for Salah’s international aspirations, as Hassan confirmed that the forward will be available for the World Cup despite the absence from Liverpool’s domestic campaign.

Liverpool have yet to issue their own update to supporters regarding the severity of the injury. The club’s silence leaves fans awaiting official confirmation, though the Egyptian football authorities’ assessment suggests Salah’s chapter at Anfield has concluded.

Manager Arne Slot acknowledged the likelihood that Salah’s extraordinary Liverpool tenure has reached its end after witnessing his star player hobble off the pitch. Slot expressed uncertainty regarding Salah’s recovery, stating, “We don’t know. That is the best answer I can give,” while adding the team will wait to see how things unfold in the final weeks of the season.

Slot, however, conveyed confidence in Salah’s professionalism and care for his body, remarking, “Mo has taken such good care of his body all these years that he will have the minimum time required to recover. Let’s hope for the best.”

Liverpool currently occupy fourth position in the Premier League table with 58 points, maintaining an eight-point cushion over Brighton in sixth as they pursue Champions League qualification. The Reds have critical matches ahead, with trips to Manchester United and Aston Villa, alongside hosting Chelsea and Brentford at Anfield.

The final home fixture against Brentford had the potential to serve as Salah’s farewell appearance following his nine-year tenure, though whether he will still attend remains uncertain. As the club grapples with the loss of one of its legends, the sport’s relentless pace is a stark reminder of how quickly fortunes can shift in football.
