Lando Norris claims pole position for the Spanish Grand Prix
Lando Norris secured an impressive pole position for the Spanish Grand Prix, defeating Kimi Antonelli with a remarkable lap at the Madring. The world champion expressed that his lap “might be my best one” of his career, edging the young Italian by just 0.011 seconds, reports BritPanorama.
Max Verstappen followed 0.140 seconds behind in third, while Lewis Hamilton, who briefly held provisional pole in Q3, finished fourth. Charles Leclerc came in fifth, with George Russell and Oscar Piastri completing the top seven.
Norris’s extraordinary lap came after he started Q1 in fifth and Q2 in seventh. Reflecting on his performance, he stated, “I’m shocked. A little bit surprised to be here now. My God, that was probably one of the best laps I’ve done in my career. Very very happy. Very proud, very happy for the team. Just one of those laps where everything came together.”
The British driver elaborated on the experience, stating, “Honestly, I’ve been feeling pretty confident, and the car was feeling good, so I felt good out there.” He acknowledged that despite the high-pressure environment, he was able to focus and execute his strategy effectively, which culminated in what he described as “pretty much perfect, bar the last corner.”
Kimi Antonelli, despite narrowly missing out on pole, was in good spirits. He remarked, “I thought it was a good lap, but then this guy just snatched it away. But good job to them.” He noted the challenges of finding the right balance in the hot conditions and is optimistic about the race ahead.
The Spanish Grand Prix will take place at 2pm on Sunday, making for an eagerly anticipated contest among the top competitors.
