Sorba Thomas unscathed after Land Rover crash, features on Hull City bench
Hull City winger Sorba Thomas was named on the substitutes’ bench against Chelsea on Saturday, just one day after walking away unhurt from a dramatic Land Rover crash, reports BritPanorama.
The 27-year-old was involved in the accident on Millhouse Woods Lane in Cottingham at approximately 8.30am on Friday while travelling to training. Images circulated on social media showed Thomas’s grey Land Rover Defender overturned beside the road, with several windows broken.
Despite the alarming condition of the vehicle, the Wales international emerged without injuries. A statement from Hull reassured supporters, stating, “The club is aware of images of Sorba’s car circulating on social media and can reassure supporters that he has sustained no injuries and emerged from his vehicle completely unscathed.”
Less than 24 hours later, Thomas travelled with his Hull team-mates to London for Saturday afternoon’s Premier League encounter with Chelsea. He was photographed arriving at Stamford Bridge before being included among the substitutes by Hull manager Sergej Jakirovic.
Residents near the accident site reported being startled by the crash. One local woman recounted the noise of the incident that woke her from sleep and described finding the car in her hedge. Another resident, an NHS worker, noted that the crash obstructed his path to work.
Thomas joined Hull from Championship club Stoke City for £10 million on transfer deadline day earlier this month. Since then, he has made two appearances for the Tigers, including a start in a Carabao Cup defeat against Sunderland and a substitute role in a Premier League draw with Aston Villa.
