Cole Palmer has been banned from Twitch after accidentally streaming footage of FC 27 before the game’s official promotional reveal, reports BritPanorama.
The Chelsea and England player left thousands of viewers stunned when he streamed live for over an hour on a Tuesday. During the stream, Palmer opened Ultimate Team packs, inspected player ratings, and played a match, despite the game not launching globally until September 25.
Early access to the highly anticipated game was scheduled to begin at midnight on September 18, with EA Sports planning to showcase the gameplay later that Tuesday evening. However, Palmer’s premature broadcast conflict with this timeline led to significant fallout.
EA Sports FC officials tried to intervene, appearing in Palmer’s live chat to alert him to the streaming error. “Err Cole, weren’t we going to do this a bit later?” the official account commented, reminding viewers that they would be live at 6 pm UK time. Despite their efforts, the unauthorised footage had already circulated widely before Palmer’s account was banned and the clips were removed.
Following the incident, clips of Palmer’s unexpected game preview rapidly spread across social media, garnering mixed reactions from supporters. The 24-year-old later made a light-hearted appeal for his account’s reinstatement. Tagging both EA and Twitch on his Instagram, he quipped, “I was only giving the people what they wanted… unban me pls.”
Throughout the stream, Palmer provided entertainment, particularly upon discovering his rating in EA Sports FC 27, which he found to be lower than his previous score. “I need a word with EA,” he joked. “They took two ratings off me. I had one leg for ten months last season. What do you want me to do?”
In addition to examining his own virtual statistics, Palmer took a look at the ratings of his Chelsea teammate Morgan Rogers.
