Darts Regulation Authority unveils disciplinary records from 2023 to 2026
The Darts Regulation Authority has released its comprehensive disciplinary record covering 2023 to 2026, ending a three-year silence on sanctions handed down to players across the sport, reports BritPanorama.
Among the most high-profile penalties disclosed is the £2,500 fine imposed on Cameron Menzies after the 37-year-old Scot repeatedly struck a table on stage at Alexandra Palace during the PDC World Darts Championship in December.
The DRA also handed Menzies a four-month suspension, though this has been suspended until July 2027. Menzies lost 3-2 to bricklayer Charlie Manby in the opening round of the tournament in north London, reacting furiously by slamming his fist into the table on stage. The outburst quickly spread across social media and left the former plumber with bloodied knuckles, requiring an urgent hospital visit.
A DRA hearing on 19 January resulted in the fine and conditional ban, meaning any further breach of the disciplinary code before July 2027 could see him excluded from the sport entirely. Despite pocketing £15,000 in prize money for his first-round appearance, the incident overshadowed his tournament. Menzies has since rebuilt his reputation impressively, climbing to 26th in the PDC world rankings and reaching the semi-finals of the PDC World Cup of Darts representing Team Scotland.
Several other prominent names feature on the newly published list, including two-time world champion Gary Anderson, five-time world title winner Raymond van Barneveld, Rob Cross, Gerwyn Price, and amateur player John Morris, all of whom faced sanctions for a range of disciplinary breaches. Anderson received the heftiest individual fine on the list, totalling £3,000 for “aggressive and abusive behaviour” at the 2025 World Matchplay in Blackpool, with £1,000 of that sum suspended until September 2026.
Van Barneveld escaped with a formal warning after he was found to have failed to report damage to a hotel room during a Players Championship event held in Germany in May 2025. Cross, meanwhile, was docked £500 after television cameras captured him making an offensive gesture during the 2024-25 PDC World Championship at Alexandra Palace. The former world champion also received a formal warning regarding his future conduct.
Price was hit with a £1,000 penalty — one of the larger sanctions on the list — after he failed to finish a match and posted comments on social media during a Pro Tour event on 12 February 2024. Perhaps the most striking case involved amateur player John Morris, who was given a six-month ban, suspended until September 2026, after being found in possession of a class A drug at an ADC Vault event in March.
The published records also reveal the range of everyday infractions that can land players in trouble. Offences such as carelessly discarding a dart, neglecting to mark, or directing foul language at opponents or officials carry fines of between £100 and £500 under the DRA’s disciplinary framework.
