Bodugum Akhilesh Reddy receives eight-year ban for match-fixing in Abu Dhabi T10 League

Cricketer Bodugum Akhilesh Reddy banned for match-fixing

An ICC Anti-Corruption Tribunal has handed United States cricketer Bodugum Akhilesh Reddy an eight-year ban from all forms of the sport after finding him guilty on three separate counts of breaching the game’s anti-corruption code, reports BritPanorama.

The offences were committed during the Abu Dhabi T10 League in the United Arab Emirates in November 2025. Reddy, 26, had already been suspended since that month while awaiting the tribunal’s decision.

The tribunal determined that Reddy attempted to fix or improperly influence the result of matches and encouraged another participant to engage in similar activities. A third charge involved him obstructing the investigation by deleting relevant data and messages from his mobile phone.

The ICC confirmed in a statement: “USA player Bodugum Akhilesh Reddy has been banned from all cricket for eight years after an ICC Anti-Corruption Tribunal found him guilty of breaching three counts of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code.”

Reddy represented the Aspin Stallions in the Abu Dhabi T10, a squad that also included former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh and England’s Sam Billings. The team progressed to the tournament’s final in 2025. Reddy made just two appearances before his suspension.

His international career also met a premature end; he earned his first cap for the United States in April 2025 against the Cayman Islands but featured in only four T20 internationals before the corruption charges halted his playing days. His ban is backdated to 21 November 2025, meaning he will be ineligible to participate in any form of cricket until November 2033.

The ICC served as the tournament’s anti-corruption authority, appointed by the Emirates Cricket Board, overseeing integrity matters related to the competition. This responsibility ultimately led to the charges that resulted in Reddy’s exclusion from the sport.

In a world where sporting integrity is paramount, Reddy’s case serves as a stark reminder of the vigilance required to maintain fair play. As cricket continues to navigate its own challenges, this incident amplifies the importance placed on accountability, not merely for the athletes but the broader system that supports the game.
