Joshua and Fury to fight in Cardiff
The highly anticipated boxing match between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury is set to take place at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on Friday, December 11, reports BritPanorama.
Turki Alalshikh, the financial backer of the fight, confirmed the plans via social media, stating, “For 15 years, no one has been able to make this fight. Back in April, I said that any announcement would come from me. I can now confirm that Fury Vs Joshua will be coming to the UK, as I promised British boxing fans. The time for talking is over.”
The bout is scheduled to begin at approximately 2am, with Netflix set to broadcast the fight live. Following prolonged negotiations, there had been initial plans for the event to be held at Madison Square Garden in New York on November 20. However, Joshua and his promoter Eddie Hearn successfully advocated for the match to occur on British soil.
Hearn expressed his gratitude, remarking, “We did it. Forever indebted to the UK public for their support of Anthony Joshua. We couldn’t have got this over the line without you.” Joshua has previously fought at the Principality, facing opponents such as Carlos Takam and Joseph Parker. The venue in Cardiff has a history of hosting significant all-British bouts, including championship matches featuring Lennox Lewis and Frank Bruno.
