Afghan migrant deported after viral TikTok guide

The Afghan migrant who produced a step-by-step TikTok guide on crossing the Channel has been deported to France, reports BritPanorama.

Tarvis Haneifi, 23, gathered over a million views with his videos boasting about his accommodations funded by taxpayers and invited others to follow his path. In a TikTok that drew widespread condemnation, Haneifi suggested, “Tell your friends to come.”

Prior to arriving in the UK, he posted troubling content, including a video with the title “how to kill your wife and get a soft sentence.” His situation raised alarm among authorities, prompting an investigation after his identity was revealed by media outlets in August.

Haneifi, also known as Parwiz Hanifyar, had previously left Germany due to increasing enforcement against undocumented migrants. He was returned under the “one-in, one-out” returns scheme, a key part of the UK government’s approach to immigration.

Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood stated, “Removing people like Haneifi shows we won’t stand for the abuse of our hospitality.” She is expected to unveil a comprehensive set of measures on asylum, taking cues from Denmark’s stringent immigration policies, aimed at reducing the influx of migrants and expediting deportations.

The Labour government faces mounting pressure to address the record number of small boat crossings, which have surged in recent months and sparked significant political debate about the UK’s immigration strategy.

The discussions surrounding this incident highlight the ongoing complexities of immigration policy, balancing compassion with national security, while reflecting broader themes of hospitality and responsibility within the UK’s immigration framework.
