Cristiano Ronaldo marries Georgina Rodríguez in Portugal
Cristiano Ronaldo and his long-term partner Georgina Rodríguez have finally tied the knot after nearly a decade together, reports BritPanorama.
The 41-year-old football star wed the model, 32, in a civil ceremony in Cascais, a fashionable seaside town located 20 miles west of Lisbon.
All five of Ronaldo’s children were present at the wedding. A statement issued to People described the occasion as “a private and intimate moment.” The Al-Nassr forward marked the event by posting a photograph showing the newlyweds’ hands together, displaying their wedding rings.
Crowds had previously gathered on Ronaldo’s home island of Madeira, where the couple had been expected to marry over the weekend. The pair first met in 2017 while Rodríguez was working as a sales assistant at a Gucci shop and Ronaldo was playing for Real Madrid. Recalling their meeting, Rodríguez said: “I was finally able to leave the shop to go home three hours later than I should have, and as I was getting ready to leave Cristiano came in with his eldest son and some friends. Let’s just say it was butterflies in my stomach.”
Their relationship became public in March 2017 following an appearance together at FIFA’s The Best awards. Rodríguez announced their engagement on Instagram last year, captioning a photo of her ring: “Yes, I do. In this and in all my lives.” Her oval-cut diamond ring, valued by experts at approximately £3.7 million, is believed to weigh between 25 and 30 carats.
Ronaldo has five children from different relationships: 16-year-old Cristiano Jr. from a previous partner, nine-year-old twins Eva Maria and Mateo born through surrogacy, and eight-year-old Alana and four-year-old Bella with Rodríguez.
The couple currently resides in Saudi Arabia, where Ronaldo serves as captain at Al-Nassr and earns £165 million per year. Widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time, Ronaldo’s illustrious career has spanned over two decades, including stints at Sporting CP, Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus.
