Oscar Pistorius reportedly has a job now
Oscar Pistorius reportedly has a job now, with the killer living his life away from the public eye 13 years after murdering Reeva Steenkamp in the early hours of Valentine’s Day, reports BritPanorama.
The world was shocked in 2013 when it emerged that the South African had gunned down Reeva, his girlfriend, firing four shots through a locked toilet door. Pistorius maintained that he had mistaken her for an intruder. Initially convicted of culpable homicide in 2014, the charge was later upgraded to murder.
In January 2024, the man formerly known as the Blade Runner was released on parole. He now lives under strict conditions, with his parole set to expire in 2029.
Little is known about Pistorius these days. He was spotted in 2024, with images widely published, and participated in a 70-mile cycling event in Durban. Recent reports from the Daily Mail provide an update on the 39-year-old’s day-to-day life, which includes enjoying padel and visiting local bike shops.
New details indicate that he has secured a job, likely with a sound engineering company in 2025. A local resident expressed reluctance to engage with him, stating, “He’s like a ghost. He’s disappeared off the face of the earth and most people are happy for it to stay like that. Apparently he has a job now, though no major company would go near him.”
Pistorius’s current situation suggests he is working not out of necessity but rather a desire to be involved. He lives in a luxurious mansion with his uncle, Arnold, a wealthy man who raised him after his mother passed away in 2002.
Additionally, Pistorius has embraced faith, joining a modern gospel church where he frequently attends services with his new girlfriend, Rita Greyling. He volunteers at the church, helping with tasks such as parking and serving coffee, and is seen as part of the community. He also has a dog named Maggie, described as a comforting presence during outings.
Meanwhile, the Steenkamp family continues to grapple with their loss. Reeva’s father, Barry, passed away in September 2023 after meeting Pistorius in prison, urging him to confess to the murder. Reeva’s mother, June, is recovering from a life-changing stroke but has suffered memory issues as a result.
As Pistorius attempts to reintegrate into society, the shadows of his past loom large, reminding all involved of a tragedy that forever altered lives.
