Unconfirmed social media reports circulating on Ukrainian Telegram channels on Wednesday claimed Iran is planning to launch three ballistic missiles at Ukrainian territory within 48 hours. There has been no official confirmation from any state, military or intelligence source.
The reports, which have not been verified by independent news organizations, offered no evidence or operational details beyond the assertion of an imminent strike. Authorities in Kyiv and Tehran have not commented on the claims.
Previous Iranian threat
The unverified assertions follow a recent Iranian threat to retaliate against Ukraine over what Tehran described as an attack on an Iranian trade vessel in the Caspian Sea. Iran blamed Ukraine for striking the ship, a charge Kyiv has not acknowledged.
The Telegram posts referencing the alleged missile plan also circulated a map showing the estimated reach of certain Iranian ballistic missiles. The graphic highlighted the Khorramshahr missile, which is the longest-range weapon in Iran’s ballistic arsenal and could theoretically reach targets in Ukraine.
The claims could not be independently substantiated. No official warning has been issued and no heightened alert status has been reported by Ukrainian or Western defense agencies.
