Manchester City unveils £5 Premier League ticket initiative
Manchester City has announced a new initiative offering Premier League tickets from as low as £5, aimed at residents living near the Etihad Stadium, reports BritPanorama.
The trial scheme will commence for the 2026-27 season, allowing local adults to purchase tickets at £10, with approximately 100 to 500 tickets available at this discounted rate.
The programme specifically targets residents in certain Manchester City Council wards surrounding the stadium, enabling them to apply for reduced-price access to all home league matches, along with selected domestic cup and European fixtures.
Concession holders will pay £7.50 for their tickets, while those under 18 can acquire tickets for £5. Eligible areas include Ancoats & Beswick, Clayton & Openshaw, Gorton & Abbey Hey, Ardwick, and Miles Platting & Newton Heath. Proof of address will be necessary for applicants.
This initiative marks the third consecutive season without a general price increase for supporters. The club has also introduced a new pricing tier, with adult tickets starting at £25 for select midweek matches.
Danny Wilson, the club’s managing director of operations, stated, “Manchester City has always been rooted in its community and, as we grow, we want to ensure people who live closest to the Etihad Campus remain part of everything that happens here. We know matchdays bring significant social and economic opportunities to the area.”
City fans will have the opportunity to see their new signing, Elliot Anderson, when Bournemouth visits the Etihad for the opening match of the Premier League season on August 23.
As clubs increasingly seek to engage with local communities, this initiative not only addresses accessibility but also reinforces the connection between the club and its supporters, reminding all that football remains fundamentally about community and shared experience.
