Lady Louise Windsor graduates from the University of St Andrews
Lady Louise Windsor has graduated from the University of St Andrews, watched by her proud parents, reports BritPanorama.
The 22-year-old, who is 17th in line to the throne, completed her degree in English and international relations. Dressed in her graduation gown, she celebrated the occasion in the Fife town on Thursday, alongside the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, who were visibly supportive.
Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, made an appearance with her new bobbed haircut as the family united for the ceremonial event. The royal family acknowledged Lady Louise’s achievement with a post on their official social media account, commending her on a significant milestone.

Post-graduation, Lady Louise is set to embark on a gap year, a period during which she plans a mixture of working, volunteering, and travelling before considering her future career options. Her next engagement will be on Friday when she receives her Duke of Edinburgh’s (DofE) gold award from her father, Edward, alongside hundreds of other participants at a celebration at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh.
This moment is particularly poignant as it coincides with the 70th anniversary year of the award founded by her late grandfather, Prince Philip, and marks 40 years since her father began supporting the youth adventure scheme.
Lady Louise was born prematurely in November 2003, weighing just 4lb 9oz after her mother, Sophie, suffered severe complications during pregnancy. Initially separated from her mother for six days following her birth, Louise was treated in specialist care at St George’s Hospital in London.
The late Prince Philip played an influential role in Lady Louise’s upbringing, teaching her how to drive a carriage. She has since participated enthusiastically in the sport at events like the annual Royal Windsor Horse Show.
Although she was entitled to the title of HRH Princess Louise, her parents opted for courtesy titles associated with a child of an earl. Both she and her younger brother, James, the Earl of Wessex, are poised to pursue their own professional paths rather than undertaking formal royal duties.
The blend of educational accomplishment and familial support underscores a significant chapter in Lady Louise’s life as she prepares for her next adventures.
