Dean Harrison wins 2026 Isle of Man TT Senior race
Dean Harrison has been crowned the winner of the 2026 Isle of Man TT Senior race after organisers confirmed the event has concluded with no further racing to take place, reports BritPanorama.
The flagship Milwaukee Senior TT was halted on Friday when Finnish competitor Erno Kostamo came off his machine at the 11th Milestone during the second lap, prompting officials to display a red flag.
As less than half of the four-lap race had been completed, a full result could not initially be declared. However, organisers have now awarded positions based on standings at the conclusion of lap one. Honda Racing’s Harrison took victory ahead of Peter Hickman on the 8TEN Racing BMW, with Josh Brookes completing the podium for DAO Racing Honda.
Friday proved to be a challenging day for competitors, with three riders requiring hospital treatment following separate incidents across different races. Kostamo sustained injuries to his leg and hip and was initially assessed at Noble’s Hospital before being airlifted to Aintree Hospital in Liverpool. His condition has been reported as conscious, stable, and talking.
Manx rider Jamie Cringle fell at Union Mills during the second Monster Energy Supersport race. He was transported to Noble’s Hospital and subsequently transferred to Aintree, where he continues to receive care for injuries to his leg, chest, and back. He too is described as conscious, stable, and talking. Fellow Isle of Man competitor Michael Evans crashed at Braddan Oak in the Carole Nash Sportbike race but remains at Noble’s Hospital with no serious injuries reported.
Adverse weather conditions affected the 2026 TT programme, forcing organisers to cancel multiple races entirely. Both RL360 Superstock events were scrapped, as was the second Carole Nash Sportbike race scheduled for Saturday. The Supersport Race 1 had already been abandoned earlier in the week due to persistent low cloud over the Mountain section, which prevented the roads from drying sufficiently for competition.
Forecasts of heavy rain and poor visibility for Sunday left organisers with few options within the remaining schedule. The Sidecar class never got underway this year, as racing was suspended following safety concerns after four-time winners Ryan and Callum Crowe crashed at Crosby jump during a qualifying session. Tragically, the 2026 TT was marred before the racing began in earnest, as Daniel Ingham, a 33-year-old competitor from Leicestershire, lost his life in a crash at Doran’s Bend during a qualifying session. His wife Helayna paid tribute, stating, “Dan was the most lovely person; he always had a big smile on his face.”
Organisers have extended their condolences to Ingham’s wife and two children. This tragedy followed the death of Alan Oversby, 68, in an accident at the Pre-TT Classic Road Races just a day prior.
Earlier in the week, eight spectators were treated at Noble’s Hospital after a rider crashed into the crowd at Parliament Square.
The Isle of Man TT is known for its exhilarating yet perilous nature, and this year’s events have starkly underlined the risks involved. Yet, amid the shadows of misfortune, the spirit of competition persists, reminding all of the fine line that separates triumph and tragedy on these treacherous roads.
