Luke Littler dismisses retirement rumours to focus on darts career
Luke Littler has brushed aside speculation suggesting he intends to abandon his darts career in favour of becoming a YouTube personality, reports BritPanorama.
The two-time world champion currently leads the Premier League standings after securing his fifth victory of the season in Aberdeen. Addressing long-standing rumours about his potential shift to social media stardom, Littler expressed clarity about his intentions.
When questioned about the ongoing chatter on social media, he smiled and remarked, “I don’t think it’s for the YouTube side. I don’t think I’ll create a YouTube account.” Instead, his focus appears to lie with platforms like TikTok and Instagram, where he showcases moments from his life outside of competitive darts.
The 19-year-old explained that the content he produces alongside girlfriend Faith is intended to give fans a glimpse into their daily activities, highlighting a lighter side of “The Nuke.” The clips, shared before his recent success in Aberdeen, depict playful interactions such as dancing in a car and applying aftershave.
In one lighthearted video, he and Faith donned penguin bucket hats, a nod to his colourful oche companion, Justin Hood. Littler stated, “No one has ever really seen what does Luke Littler get up to,” further noting that engagement with his audience was a key motivation to share more personal moments.
“We are both loving it, both getting used to recording each other and just being natural,” Littler commented, referencing their initiative to invest in camera equipment amid Faith’s recent work challenges. The young champion admitted the filming process poses its challenges, yet maintained an upbeat outlook: “There’s a lot of re-takes on what we do. Plenty more videos to go,” he suggested, hinting at further behind-the-scenes insights.
As Littler continues to navigate his precarious position in the Premier League, he appears to have regained his composure following earlier turbulence, which encompassed an altercation with fellow competitor Gian van Veen. After facing a hostile reception in Brighton, he bounced back with decisive wins in both Rotterdam and Aberdeen.
Reflecting on his advancement, Littler stated, “I think I was just comfortable. Practice was going well, and I’m glad to bring it onto the stage,” as he gears up for the upcoming round in Leeds against Michael van Gerwen. In a sport that values both skill and resilience, Littler’s blend of charisma and determination remains compelling, perhaps reminding fans just how the lines between entertainment and sport can meld in unexpected ways.
