Mohamed Salah injury update ahead of Liverpool-Manchester United clash

Mohamed Salah is making good progress from a recent muscle injury and is expected to return for Liverpool’s final matches this season before his anticipated departure from the club this summer after nine years, reports BritPanorama.

The 33-year-old Egyptian forward will miss the upcoming match against Manchester United, but manager Arne Slot is optimistic about Salah’s return for the closing fixtures of the campaign.

Salah sustained the injury during last Saturday’s match against Crystal Palace, raising concerns that he may have played his last game for Liverpool. However, the club has confirmed that the injury is minor, with an expected return during one of the remaining four matches.

Slot praised Salah’s commitment to his recovery, highlighting the forward’s dedication both when fit and during rehabilitation. “As we know for Mo, he is always working hard when he is fit and when he is injured to be back,” the Liverpool manager stated. “He is usually fitter than others, so we expect him back for the final part of the season. Not for tomorrow.”

The Dutch manager expressed his relief that the injury was not severe, allowing Salah the chance to properly say farewell to supporters. “It is always a big relief that his injury is minor to play for us and the World Cup. Any time a player who deserved a send-off, it’s great news,” Slot added.

Liverpool is now focused on securing Champions League qualification for the next season, needing just five points from their last four Premier League matches to assure a top-five finish.

The season finale will take place at Anfield on May 24, featuring a match against Brentford, a potential setting for an emotional farewell should Salah manage to recover in time. The Egyptian forward is hopeful of returning by that date, enabling fans to pay tribute to a player who has become one of the club’s most celebrated figures during his tenure on Merseyside.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are also hoping for a quick return of goalkeeper Alisson Becker, who has yet to resume full training following his own injury. Slot noted the importance of a measured recovery process, particularly for goalkeepers due to the unique nature of their role.

As the clock ticks down on a transformative season, the stakes remain high for Liverpool, underscoring the ever-present tension between ambition and the fragility of player fitness.
