Australian police conclude homicide investigation after discovering lifelike doll

A homicide investigation in Australia has been terminated following the discovery of a suitcase containing a lifelike doll, which was initially believed to be human remains, reports BritPanorama.

The investigation commenced when two passersby stumbled upon the suitcase on the side of the road in Oallen, a remote town situated approximately 125 miles southwest of Sydney. Upon opening it, they contacted authorities after seeing what they thought were human remains.

However, subsequent forensic examinations revealed that the contents were not human but rather a doll. “The item located in the bag was a lifelike doll, wearing clothing, with hair and a nose piercing,” police stated in a report. The doll also had markings that resembled bruises and grazes.

Upon arrival, police established a crime scene but were cautious in examining the contents closely. Superintendent Linda Bradbury explained, “We don’t like to disturb remains too much in situ, particularly when we have faced inclement weather, as we did yesterday and again today.” The doll was described as “very realistic in terms of looking like human remains,” indicating the potential for confusion in such a scenario.

The investigation highlights the challenges police face in identifying suspicious discoveries in remote areas, where factors such as weather conditions can impact the examination process. With this case now closed, it serves as a reminder of the intricate nature of forensic evaluations and public vigilance in reporting unusual findings.
