Wolves appoint Rob Edwards as new manager
Wolverhampton Wanderers have named Rob Edwards as their new manager on a three-and-a-half-year contract, reports BritPanorama. The club is currently at the bottom of the Premier League, having accumulated just two points from their first 11 matches.
Edwards will step into the role during the international break, with his first match in charge set to be a home clash against Crystal Palace on November 22. He will be joined by Harry Watling, who has been appointed as the assistant head coach.
The announcement follows a series of poor performances that led to the sacking of Vitor Pereira. Edwards’ appointment was made possible after Middlesbrough accepted a compensation package reported to be between £3-4 million, despite initially rejecting Wolves’ advances.
Middlesbrough stated that they were disappointed by Edwards’ request to speak with Wolves, having only appointed him as their manager in June following the dismissal of Michael Carrick. However, they have now agreed terms, allowing him to leave the Championship club.
