Vinicius Junior’s representatives have launched an extraordinary attack on sections of the media amid mounting speculation over the Real Madrid superstar’s future, reports BritPanorama.
The Brazilian winger has dominated transfer headlines in recent weeks, with Arsenal continuing to be linked with one of the biggest potential deals of the summer despite uncertainty surrounding his contract at the Bernabeu.
His agency, Roc Nation Sports International, issued a strongly worded statement condemning what it described as “fake and damaging” reporting, accusing journalists of publishing unfounded claims for attention. The statement, released on Sunday by Roc Nation president Michael Yormark, did not directly address Vinicius’ future or the reports linking him with the Premier League champions.
However, with the 26-year-old’s contract situation still unresolved, the timing is likely to fuel further debate over the ongoing transfer saga. Writing on Instagram, Yormark said: “Roc Nation Sports International and our entire team cannot stand idle when unprofessional and uninformed media publish fake and damaging information for attention-seeking purposes. This is especially unacceptable when it personally targets our clients without any foundation. It is disruptive, harmful and libellous. Media outlets and journalists need to hold themselves more accountable.”
Roc Nation, the sports management company founded by music icon Jay-Z, represents a host of elite athletes across football, American football, and basketball. Among its football clients are Vinicius, Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli, teenage Real Madrid signing Yan Diomande, and Brazilian youngster Endrick. The agency did not specify which reports had prompted the statement, leaving supporters to speculate whether it was connected to the growing rumours surrounding Vinicius’ long-term future in Spain.
The Brazil international has entered the final year of his current Real Madrid contract, although negotiations over a new deal remain ongoing. Until an agreement is reached, questions over his future are unlikely to disappear. Arsenal have repeatedly been credited with an interest in the explosive forward, although there have been no club-to-club negotiations between the two European giants.
Real Madrid are also believed to have no desire to part ways with one of their biggest stars, while new manager Jose Mourinho reportedly wants Vinicius to remain a central figure in his plans. Even Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has found himself fielding questions over the speculation during the club’s pre-season tour. When asked by supporters when Vinicius would be joining the Gunners, the Spaniard responded with a smile before later insisting Arsenal remains active in the transfer market.
“We expect to have movements in the next few weeks, obviously, because we want to get better like anybody else, and you can just see the transfer market and our opponents what we are doing,” Arteta said. “We won’t sit still and we are very ambitious with what we want to do.”
