Tyson Fury set to face Mariusz Wach in Thailand
Tyson Fury will step into the ring against Polish heavyweight Mariusz Wach on 24 July at the Max Muay Thai Stadium in Pattaya, Thailand, as he prepares for a crucial all-British clash with Anthony Joshua, reports BritPanorama.
This matchup serves as a warm-up contest for Fury, who has recently relocated his training operations to Southeast Asia. The fight with Joshua, however, remains provisional, with both venues and dates yet to be confirmed, contingent on the two fighters securing victories in their respective prep bouts. Joshua is scheduled to face Albanian fighter Kristian Prenga the day after Fury’s bout.
Wach, now 46 years old, enters the contest with a professional record of 39 wins and 13 losses. Once a challenger for Wladimir Klitschko’s heavyweight titles in 2012, his prime years are well behind him. Currently, he is regarded more as a durable opponent capable of absorbing punishment than as a genuine title contender.
Wach’s recent performances reinforce this assessment; he has lost seven of his last ten fights, including a second-round stoppage defeat to Moses Itauma in July 2024. His past opponents include notable names such as Dillian Whyte and Alexander Povetkin.
Fury, excited for this upcoming contest, remarked, “2026 is a landmark year for me in boxing and I’m excited to be able to bring this event to Pattaya, a part of the world that is special to me.” He emphasized his commitment not just to the fight but also to giving back to the local community that has welcomed him over the years.
His promoter Frank Warren expressed enthusiasm regarding Fury’s return, stating, “Boxing is a better place with Tyson Fury in it.” Warren highlighted Fury’s excellent condition and readiness for the fight, underscoring his focus on delivering an impactful performance against Wach.
Tickets for the event in Thailand will go on sale starting the week of 6 July, thereby giving fans an opportunity to witness what is anticipated to be a significant bout in Fury’s career.
As the heavyweight landscape continues to evolve, this bout serves as both a stepping stone for Fury and a hopeful resurgence for Wach, reminding observers of the unpredictable nature of boxing and the stories that emerge, regardless of age or past glories.
