Moscow Wildberries factory up in flames as Ukraine launches huge drone attack

Ukraine has launched an attack on a Russian rocket fuel plant in the bordering Rostov region, targeting workshops that produce explosives and gunpowder, the military has said, reports BritPanorama.

The Kamensk-Shakhtinsky plant, identified by Kyiv as integral to Russia’s military-industrial complex, was struck overnight into Sunday. Ukraine’s military claimed on Monday that two workshops were destroyed, and four others sustained damage, bolstered by satellite images showing the aftermath.

According to the military, the plant produces solid rocket fuel for multiple-launch rocket systems (MLRS) and other missile systems essential for operations. The drone strike was part of a much larger campaign, which Russian authorities described as involving over 800 drones.

Ukraine also reported the destruction of a warehouse owned by the Russian online retailer Wildberries in this extensive drone attack. Russian officials claimed to have shot down 822 drones, with 600 reportedly directed toward Moscow, marking it as the “largest scale” attack recorded this year.

The Wildberries site targeted in Podolsk, in the Moscow region, is characterized as the largest facility owned by the retailer. Images post-attack reveal the vast warehouse in ruins, while Ukrainian efforts intensify against what it terms as the ‘Russian Amazon’, signifying a strategic move to “bring home the war” to everyday Russians.

In the wake of this escalation, the geopolitical tensions continue to surface, reflecting the ongoing conflict’s broader implications for both regional stability and military capabilities. The situation remains fluid as Ukraine seeks to assert its sovereignty amidst a relentless campaign against invading forces.
