PDC introduces new ticketing system for World Darts Championship
The Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) is set to implement a ballot system for ticket allocation for the World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace, a significant change in its history, reports BritPanorama.
This new approach will be first employed for the 2026/27 tournament, as organisers move to the Great Hall of the North London venue to accommodate a staggering 180,000 spectators throughout the event. The current surge in popularity for darts has resulted in demand for tickets outstripping supply in recent years, necessitating this shift.
Luke Littler, who is aiming for a third consecutive world title, is the key player to watch as festivities commence from December 11 through January 3. The last few years have seen ticketing struggles, including the PDC’s website crashing due to overwhelming demand. As a response, the PDC will require fans seeking priority access to possess an active PDCTV Annual subscription, costing £59.99, by the August 30 eligibility cut-off.
The PDCTV Annual Members Ballot is scheduled to open on September 1 and will run until September 7, while a general ballot for remaining fans will commence from September 8 through September 14. However, the PDC has noted that despite the expanded seating, there is no guarantee successful ticket applications will be fulfilled, given the anticipated demand will likely exceed capacity.
