Pat Cash has announced his engagement to Charlotte Hodson, describing the 54-year-old singer and massage therapist as his “soulmate” in an Instagram post shared on Sunday, reports BritPanorama.
The 61-year-old Australian tennis icon expressed his happiness in the heartfelt announcement, stating, “Every now and then, life can surprise you in the very best way.” He also conveyed a sense of fate in their relationship, adding, “I’m so incredibly lucky to know that through an amazing string of coincidences I found my soulmate.”
Cash revealed that Hodson, who has been part of his life since 2023, accepted his proposal indeed, saying, “I can’t help but believe God had it all planned to perfection. She said yes.” The post included a photo of the engaged couple, attracting congratulatory messages from various figures in the tennis community, including three-time Wimbledon champion Boris Becker.
Hodson has established a dual career in both the music and wellness industries. She fronts a band called Chocolate Charlie, which has performed during events connected to The Pat Cash Experience, a show that merges tennis with live music. Her musical background is notable; she has performed alongside artists like Westlife, Danii Minogue, and Saint Etienne. Additionally, she runs a massage therapy practice called 8 Elements Massage in High Wycombe and has provided treatment for prominent tennis players, including American Kayla Day and Australian Li Tu.
The couple made their public debut at Wimbledon in the summer of 2024, where they were seen together in the Royal Box among other celebrities, such as tennis legend Bjorn Borg and actor Benedict Cumberbatch. Cash had hinted at his feelings for Hodson earlier, stating in a media interview, “I don’t know if we’ll go down the marriage route but she’s the love of my life, that’s for sure,” demonstrating a clear commitment that ultimately led to their engagement.
Cash’s illustrious career includes a famous victory at Wimbledon in 1987, where he defeated world number one Ivan Lendl to secure the title. His celebration, which involved climbing into the stands, has been widely regarded as iconic.
