Luke Littler pauses interview in tears after winning Premier League of Darts

Emotional victory for Luke Littler at Premier League of Darts

Luke Littler experienced an emotional moment following his win at the Premier League of Darts, where he triumphed over Luke Humphries. The 19-year-old paused during an interview to compose himself, unable to hold back tears, reports BritPanorama.

Littler had just celebrated his victory and was discussing his journey throughout the tournament when he had to step away from the stage. His opponent, Humphries, took over to allow him some time, reflecting on the emotional intensity of the finals.

Humphries, the world number one, addressed the crowd, acknowledging the challenges of the competition. “It’s been a rollercoaster. The first four weeks at the bottom, on the fifth night, I won my first night,” he said, while some in the audience booed.

After gathering himself, Littler discussed the difficulties he faced. He recounted feelings of doubt and struggle, stating, “I was down bad. After Brighton… I said to [my partner] Faith, ‘I don’t want to do it anymore.’” He went on to claim the winner’s prize of £350,000, underscoring his status as the world’s best.

During Littler’s emotional moment, Humphries remarked on the significance of such high-stakes events. “You are on the road for 16 or 17 weeks… you want that trophy because it feels like it is all worth it in the end,” he said. Despite his loss, Humphries praised the match’s quality, adding, “I don’t know the stats, but it was one of the best finals the Premier League has seen.”

The final leg showcased both players’ skills, culminating in Littler sealing his victory with a decisive D20 finish. As Littler savored his victory, he expressed pride in his journey, stating, “I am incredibly proud of myself. I said to myself: ‘Just get yourself there’, and it is a free run.”

The win continues to highlight Littler’s rising prominence in the sport, reflecting how swiftly the new generation is redefining norms in competitive darts. In a landscape often dominated by experience, Littler’s triumph serves as a reminder of youth’s potential and resilience on the big stage.
