Chelsea’s Liam Rosenior accuses Arsenal staff of breaching etiquette during warm-up

Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior has accused Arsenal’s coaching staff of breaching football etiquette by straying into his team’s half during the pre-match warm-up ahead of Tuesday’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg at the Emirates Stadium, reports BritPanorama.

The incident was captured on television, showing the 41-year-old visibly agitated before kick-off, shouting: “Stay in your half. Stay in your f***ing half. F***ing stay there.”

Footage did not specify which member of Arsenal’s staff provoked Rosenior’s ire. Following the heated exchange, Arsenal secured a 1-0 victory through a goal from Kai Havertz, advancing to the final with a 4-2 aggregate win.

Clarifying his remarks ahead of Chelsea’s upcoming match against Wolves, Rosenior stressed that his frustration was directed at Arsenal’s coaching staff, not their players. “I’m respectful. When you warm up, you have your half, the other team has their half,” he explained.

Rosenior acknowledged that his comments were not delivered with the utmost diplomacy, stating, “In that moment, I didn’t think it was right where they were operating.” He noted that the encroachment was disrupting his team’s warm-up routines.

The Chelsea manager emphasized the importance of established conventions in football, particularly regarding territorial boundaries during preparations. “I’m not here to have mind games. It’s just what I think is right and respectful,” he remarked.

Despite the altercation, Rosenior expressed respect for Arsenal and their management, indicating that he holds no grievances against the club. “I don’t have an issue with anyone at Arsenal Football Club,” he affirmed, acknowledging the credibility of manager Mikel Arteta and his squad.

As Chelsea prepares for their fixture at Molineux, questions linger regarding the fitness of players Reece James and Pedro Neto after their absence in the match against Arsenal. The dynamics of rivalry, reminiscent of classic encounters, continue to captivate football fans, revealing how even the fiercest competition can spark moments of discord off the pitch.
