Chelsea fans miss goal in live stream mishap against AC Milan

Chelsea fans have been left furious after the club’s live stream missed a goal during their pre-season friendly against AC Milan, reports BritPanorama.

In the match—their fourth pre-season contest—Chelsea faced AC Milan as manager Xabi Alonso began to implement his tactical vision. The incident occurred at the start of the second half when Chelsea’s Pedro Neto attempted a delivery into the six-yard box.

As fans eagerly anticipated the action, the live stream froze, only to resume with players celebrating in AC Milan’s net. This interruption caused frustration among supporters, who quickly took to social media to express their outrage at the streaming quality.

Once the stream caught up, they witnessed Joao Pedro celebrating his second goal of the match, having previously opened the scoring just before half-time with a header from a corner. Another goal was scored shortly thereafter, when Moises Caicedo struck a superb volley, cementing Chelsea’s lead as they aimed for a successful pre-season after a shaky start.

Fans were required to purchase a CFC+ subscription for £14.99 to access the live stream. Criticism of the stream’s quality was rampant, with one fan remarking on social media, “This Chelsea vs Milan stream is dreadful. So jumpy. We just missed a goal.”

This match also marked Alonso’s first use of a back-three formation with Chelsea, a strategy that previously served him well at Bayer Leverkusen. Set pieces proved beneficial for Chelsea, as they scored twice from corners, an area of emphasis since hiring set-piece coach Austin MacPhee this summer.

Next up for Chelsea in their pre-season tour is a match against Malaysian champions Johor Darul Ta’zim, followed by a fixture against Real Sociedad, before shifting focus to the Premier League. Their league campaign kicks off with a local derby against Fulham on the first Monday night of the season.

In an age where digital access is paramount, the discontent from fans highlights just how pivotal reliable streaming has become in the match-day experience. Missing goals can feel like receiving a postcard from a match you thought you were watching live — a reminder of just how intertwined technology and sport have become.
