Jack Grealish considers Everton move
Jack Grealish would reportedly favour a return to Everton if Manchester City allow the winger to leave before the transfer window closes, reports BritPanorama.
The 30-year-old is facing uncertainty at the Etihad Stadium after starting City’s first two games of the new season on the bench. New manager Enzo Maresca is prepared to sanction a late departure with Tuesday’s deadline rapidly approaching.
According to the BBC, sources close to the situation believe Everton is Grealish’s preferred destination, despite continued interest from former club Aston Villa. Grealish enjoyed a productive loan spell at the Hill Dickinson Stadium last season, registering two goals and six assists from 20 appearances.
His campaign ended prematurely in January due to a serious foot injury, which sidelined him for the remainder of the season. However, it is understood that Grealish relished his time on Merseyside and would welcome a chance to reunite with manager David Moyes.
Everton chief executive Angus Kinnear recently confirmed ongoing communication with the Manchester City forward since the expiration of the loan agreement, stating that the club had “remained in contact” while considering possible additions as the window closes.
Aston Villa retains interest in bringing the academy graduate back to Villa Park, yet City sources reportedly insist that no concrete offer has been made for Grealish this summer. Maresca has not guaranteed the winger’s future, but he emphasised continued support for Grealish as long as he remains part of the squad.
“Jack is here,” Maresca stated. “Until the day he is, it is my duty to try and help him to give us the best. In the next four, five days, we will see what happens. I speak with Jack almost every day.”
A potential deal may be complicated by City’s interest in Everton winger Iliman Ndiaye, who has reportedly rejected several contract offers from the Toffees, despite having a current agreement until 2029. Everton faces no immediate pressure to sell one of their key attacking players, and any late approach from Manchester City for Ndiaye is expected to meet a valuation of approximately £70m before the club would even consider his departure.
