Conor McGregor announces comeback season following knee surgery
Conor McGregor has declared that the “comeback season starts now” after undergoing surgery on a knee injury sustained during his recent fight against Max Holloway, reports BritPanorama.
The Irish fighter’s bout lasted just 69 seconds before referee Mike Beltran halted the match, following an ACL and meniscus injury that McGregor sustained during the exchange.
In a social media update, McGregor expressed optimism about his recovery, stating, “Surgery done. Knee repaired. The doubters can keep talking. I didn’t run from the pain – I walked straight into it.” He emphasized that no shortcuts or excuses would define his rehabilitation, and he is committed to making a strong return.
He referred to iconic athletes, especially in American football, as sources of inspiration for his comeback. “These are my motivation here, especially the fighting boys. My mindset is unstoppable, unbreakable,” he added.
Looking ahead, McGregor has announced plans to fight again between July 8 and July 14, 2027, during International Fight Week. This target was set amid ongoing recovery efforts, and he expressed a desire to make a grand return, indicating that he is already walking unaided and is dedicated to his training regime.
Reflecting on his injury, McGregor noted, “I wonder was I saved from something worse here. I believe so.” He expressed gratitude for the support he has received and remains focused on his goal to return to competitive fighting, stating, “On we go, no sad stories. Thank you for the support and well wishes everyone, your health is your wealth.” Holloway’s victory over McGregor was determined by a TKO after the fight was stopped prematurely, marking a disappointing moment in McGregor’s storied career.
As McGregor sets his sights on the future, fans and analysts alike will watch closely to see if he can transform this setback into a successful comeback — a testament to the unpredictability of sport and the determination of its athletes.
